A friend of ours recently forwarded a petition named “Save Bhagirathi Ganga”. Dr GD Agrawal, who is India’s pre-eminent environmental scientist, faculty of IIT Kanpur, and many other notable institutions is “fasting unto death” for the conservation of the sacred and holy River Ganga (also called as Bhagirathi) above Uttarakashi.
